Feature overview
Goals
The aim of the Data Service Profiles Management feature is to define the set of data services the SIM is authorized to use. In CMP this is achieved by creating a Service Profile, assigning this Service Profile to Accounts, and then to the SIM(s) in the Account.
Functionality of the feature
Service Profiles define the set of services that a SIM is authorized to use when it connects to a network. Using a Service Profile with the right level of services is an important step towards preventing an Account from incurring unnecessary charges.
The Data Service Profiles Management feature includes the following services:
Data |
---|
2G/3G Data |
2G/3G Data Roaming |
4G Data |
CSD MO |
CSD MT |
CSD Bearer Service 20 |
CSD Bearer Service 30 |
NB IoT |
RAT Type Barring
RAT Type barring allows to define the set of RAT Types the SIM using the Service Profile is authorized to utilize. By default all RAT Types are enabled and can be disabled individually, however, at least one RAT Type has to be enabled for each Service Profile.
Note:
Enabled RAT Types are not linked to any charges.
There is no linkage between RAT Type barring and service barring in CMP, therefore it is the User’s responsibility to ensure that the appropriate RAT Type is enabled if the service is also to be enabled.
With the RAT Type Barring feature the following RAT Types will be made available in the Service Profiles unit of the Resource Manager.
RAT Type Barring |
---|
2G GSM RAT Type |
2G GERAN RAT Type |
3G UTRAN RAT Type |
4G E-UTRAN RAT Type |
4G NB-IoT RAT Type |
4G I-HPSA Evolution RAT Type |
4G HO to Non 3GPP RAT Type |
5G NR as Secondary RAT Type |
In general, each RAT Type can be enabled or disabled individually, but some have dependencies, therefore not each combination can be configured. Configuration restrictions are applied to prevent provisioning errors.
All three of 2G GSM RAT Type, 2G GERAN RAT Type, and 3G UTRAN RAT Type cannot be disabled at the same time, at least one of them has to be enabled all the time.
All five of 4G E-UTRAN RAT Type, 4G NB-IoT RAT Type, 4G I-HPSA Evolution RAT Type, 4G HO to Non 3GPP RAT Type, and 5G NR as Secondary RAT Type cannot be disabled at the same time, at least one of them has to be enabled all the time.
