Feature overview

Goals

The aim of the SIM & eSIM Product Management feature is to allow Service Providers to define all the parameters of the physical SIM Cards they offer to their customers.

Technical Prerequisites

This feature does not require any specific technical integrations for standard operation.

While no direct dependencies apply in typical scenarios, additional integrations or configurations may be necessary depending on the customer's infrastructure, business processes, or regulatory environment.

Functionality of the feature

Note that eSIM-specific functionality described here is available only when the eSIM feature is enabled on the CMP instance.

SIM Products are physical SIM Cards that Service Providers can sell to their customers. SIM Products are identified by the SIM Provider Part Number, a user-defined identifier.

A SIM Product defines

  • the type of the SIM (SIM, eSIM),

  • Initial Billing Status for all SIMs of the SIM Product,

  • SIM form factor and physical parameters, and

  • if automatic MSISDN and IMSI assignment is required.

Automated MSISDN allocation will assign an MSISDN from the defined MSISDN Pool. The MSISDN is selected at random from those available in the pool.

In addition to the points above, the SIM Product links together the

  • SIM Provider,

  • Network Interface, and

  • SIM Branding.

When SIMs are uploaded into CMP, SIM Product is recorded against each SIM, enabling CMP to determine the correct management platform (Network Interface) for subscription provisioning.
