Feature overview
Goals
The aim of the eSIM Profile Management feature is to implement an eSIM Profile Update Event handler within the CMP, which includes CMP eSIM Profile Status updates upon receiving status update notifications from external systems, error handling procedures and logging of all eSIM Profile Update events.
Technical Prerequisites
This feature requires the following integrations to function as intended:
eSIM Management Platform
The above prerequisites reflect a typical setup.
Depending on the customer's existing infrastructure, business processes, or regulatory environment, additional integrations or configurations may be necessary to ensure full compatibility and optimal performance.
Functionality of the feature
Note that the availability of this feature depends on integration.
The eSIM Profile Management feature is designed to reflect eSIM Profile changes from external systems in the status of the eSIM Profile within the CMP. An eSIM Subscription Management Platform or equivalent system can initiate changes in the status of an eSIM Profile, such as triggering a profile download, which changes the eSIM Profile Status. Notifications generated by the eSIM Subscription Management Platform or equivalent are consumed by CMP, to ensure it accurately reflects the latest eSIM Profile status. These notifications may include additional information like the EID, in case an eSIM Profile is downloaded to a device, which can trigger further actions within CMP.
Note that throughout the CMP, the eSIM Profile Status is translated into a simplified status for certain User, and the simplified and source status are both displayed at the SIM Grid.
The eSIM Profile Update Event handler checks the status from the notification event to determine if the eSIM Profile status needs updating. If applicable, it updates the eSIM Profile Status in CMP, and logs the change along with the timestamp from the notification. CMP records the eSIM Profile Status from the notifications for each status change in the SIM History.
The eSIM Profile Update Event handler also determines if additional actions, such as adding or removing relationships to/from the EID, are necessary and performs these actions as defined. In case of errors, the eSIM Profile Update Event handler logs them and generates a daily CSP eSIM Profile Update Error Report based on the logged information.
