Feature overview
Goals
Advanced SIM Card Diagnostics is a feature which the user can benefit from on top of the Basic SIM Card Diagnostics.
The aim of the Advanced SIM Card Diagnostics feature is to give Operator and Account Users a tool for quickly identifying the root cause of connectivity issues and viewing SIM-related activities and events in a graphical form in the Enterprise Portal (EP).
Out of scope
Modifications and additions to the Basic Diagnostics feature.
Technical Prerequisites
This feature requires the following integrations to function as intended:
Packet Core Integration to online or offline charging
Other IT Systems - SS7 integration
The above prerequisites reflect a typical setup.
Depending on the customer's existing infrastructure, business processes, or regulatory environment, additional integrations or configurations may be necessary to ensure full compatibility and optimal performance.
Functionality of the feature
The ability to detect, trace, and resolve SIM-related issues is essential for the CMP and a customer's IoT service to operate smoothly. It additionally enables support staff to spend less time identifying issues, improving time-to-fix and lowering total support costs.
Advanced Diagnostics allows Users to view historical SIM-related events and information in a graphical style, allowing them to potentially identify trends in behavior or underlying causes of any issues. A Portal Access Right (ACL) determines whether the User has access to Advanced Diagnostics in EP.
The following information is displayed for each SIM Card:
Session Events for Data, SMS, and Voice & RAT Type used
Network Details in which the SIM Card was connected
APN used
SIM Status (Network Status, SIM Blocked)
Authentication Requests
Session Activations/Failures
Location Updates/Cancel Locations
Users can inspect more details about every presented event by hovering over it.
The events of the last 24 hours are displayed by default; however, the User can set a time frame of up to one month. In addition, the User can expand/contract and move along the timeline.
