Feature overview
Goals
The aim of the Testing Allowance feature is to allow the definition of included Testing Allowances for data, SMS, and voice, as well as the maximum length of the Testing Period. Testing Allowances may be desired for many reasons, such as device setup, a test period, or as a promotional offer to customers.
Functionality of the feature
CMP provides the possibility to configure Testing Allowance for all services included in the Price Plan. Testing Allowances may be included to allow for initial set up and calibration of a device or as a promotional incentive to a customer.
Testing Allowances are consumed in the initial usage of a SIM, thus granting an initial test period before the included services are charged. If Testing Allowances for multiple services are defined, an OR rule is applied. The subscription may remain in the testing phase (i.e., Billing Status In Testing) until any of the configured Testing Allowances is exhausted, i.e., once one of the Testing Allowances is consumed the SIM moves automatically from In Testing to In Billing, Suspended or Billing Ready depending on the Account configuration. All remaining Testing Allowances from other usage types that have not yet been used are lost.
Typically, the Maximum In Testing period starts when the SIM enters Billing Status of In Testing.
Users can also configure the Price Plan to start the Maximum In Testing period only when first usage happens.
