Scope

This document provides background information as well as a functional description of the FT-1004.010 SMS Service Profiles Management standard feature. The described feature is supported from the release version 4.0 onwards.

SMS Service Profiles Management is a standard feature and does not require a special license.

This feature is part of the SMS Services functionality with number FN-1011.

Goals

The aim of the SMS Service Profiles Management feature is to define the set of SMS services the SIM is authorized to use. In CMP this is achieved by creating a Service Profile, assigning this Service Profile to Accounts, and then to the SIM(s) in the Account.

Functionality of the feature

Service Profiles define the set of services that a SIM is authorized to use when it connects to a network. Using a Service Profile with the right level of services is an important step towards preventing an Account from incurring unnecessary charges.
