Feature overview

Goals

The aim of the SIM Soft Suspend via Billing Ready Status feature is to allow the suspension of SIM Cards without restricting network access.

Functionality of the feature

Soft Suspension allows to suspend SIM Cards without restricting network access on individual SIM level and also via bulk operation. Soft Suspension is a commercial suspend but not a technical suspend, therefore Soft Suspended SIMs are still able to register to the Network, i.e. usage is not blocked, however, billing is stopped immediately.

Soft Suspend is an optional feature, in case the feature is enabled on the CMP instance all Accounts have both Network and Soft Suspend, there is no restriction of suspension types. However, moving SIM Cards directly between different suspension types is not possible, i.e. a soft suspended SIM Card cannot be moved to another suspension type directly.

The Suspension Period settings and the related resume behavior set on Account level apply as well for Soft Suspended SIM Cards. Soft Suspended SIM Cards can be automatically unsuspended (i.e. resumed) with the first usage after suspension or when the (configured) Suspension Period has expired. The automatic resume action is performed with any service usage detected on a Soft Suspended SIM, there is no distinction of the Service Type of the first service usage. Additionally, Soft Suspended SIMs can be resumed manually.
