Feature overview

Goals

The aim of the Overage Behavior for Usage Stacking feature is to enable Postpaid Fixed Pools to grant MRC Stacking instead of charging any overusage.

Functionality of the feature

Overusage Charge Type is configurable for Postpaid Static Pools in Zone Price Plans, defining whether overage rated or additional MRC will be applied once the allowance of the Pool is exhausted.

  • Overusage: Once the allowance of the Pool is exhausted rates defined in the Price Plan will be applied.

  • Fixed MRC Stack: Once the allowance of the Pool is exhausted additional MRC will be charged. When this option is set for the Pool (any overusage rate in the Price Plan will be set to zero).

Note:

MRC Stack is based on the included usage and the stack size results in the maximum individual stack per Rating Group (Zone+APN).

The stacking option is part of the Price Plan, therefore all modification restrictions apply to it, like for any other Price Plan details.

Billing

The Billing Manager always creates the normal MRC line for each SIM, not taking any Usage Stacking into account. As a consequence, only Usage Stack counters larger than one result in additional charges. In case of any MRC Stack charge, the Billing Manager will add one additional charge line (per Price Plan) to cover additional MRC costs.

The Usage Stack counter will be included in the monthly Usage Report. It will report any overusage normally, only with zero costs as provisioned in the Price Plan, the Overusage Charge Type, and the “total” Usage Stack Counter, which is the largest recognized counter out of all Rating Function stack counters.
