CMP Release 5.2.5

Initial release

Benefits

MAVOCO CMP’s intuitive interface allows CSPs to centrally manage multi-IMSI capabilities such as loading, identifying, managing primary IMSI designations dynamically and reporting Multi-IMSI SIM Cards, thus streamlining SIM management and reducing operational complexity. The platform reports also dynamically adapt to display all IMSIs associated with Multi-IMSI SIMs, including details like Primary and Active IMSIs during usage. Enterprises also benefit from transparent access to Multi-IMSI details via the Enterprise Portal.

Multi-IMSI capabilities enable CSPs can maintain connectivity across different regions and networks by switching IMSIs as needed. Interconnection costs with local operators are optimized and permanent roaming charges are avoided. Additionally, multi-IMSI features integrate seamlessly with eSIM technology, supporting advanced use cases like remote provisioning and dynamic IMSI switching.

Feature overview

Goals

The aim of the Multi-IMSI feature is to allow the CMP to support the loading, identification, and reporting of Multi-IMSI SIM Cards, ensuring efficient and streamlined operations. By enabling the load of multiple IMSIs on a single SIM, CMP facilitates seamless connectivity and simplifies the management of network relationships and billing.

Functionality of the feature

An IMSI is a unique number that identifies a mobile subscriber on a network. Typically, a SIM Card holds one IMSI, which connects to a specific MNO. However, a Multi-IMSI SIM can store multiple IMSIs, enabling it to connect to different MNOs as needed by different business cases.

Multi-IMSI technology is particularly useful for devices that need to maintain connectivity across various regions and networks.

MAVOCO CMP supports the management of Multi-IMSI SIM Cards as stand-alone feature or in combination with an eSIM.

Load of Multi-IMSI SIM Card files to CMP

The existing SIM load process of the CMP supports the load of Multi-IMSI files. The minimum details in a Multi-IMSI upload file are ICCID and IMSI1.

Up to 20 IMSIs can be specified in the same line in the upload file. IMSIs must be listed in the header in a complete, but not necessarily consecutive, order. The first IMSI detected for a Multi-IMSI is marked as Primary and Active IMSI by default, and each subsequent IMSI for the same SIM is marked as non-primary and non-active.

Multi-IMSI SIM File Example

var_out: ICCID/IMSI1/IMSI2/IMSI3

Primary IMSI identification

Each Multi-IMSI SIM Card must have one Primary IMSI, which serves as the main identifier.

Note that a SIM can have only one Primary IMSI at any time.

The Primary IMSI is displayed and used in various views and functions within the CMP.

CSP Users can change the IMSI set as the Primary IMSI through the Resource Manager.

Multi-IMSI SIM Cards in CSP Reports

The following CSP Reports include all IMSIs of Multi-IMSI SIMs.

  • SIM Status Change Report for CSP

  • SIM Card Overview for CSP

  • Subscriber Additions Report for CSP

These reports dynamically scale the number of columns based on the number of IMSIs assigned to any SIM in the system. In case some SIMs have fewer IMSIs than others, the report will include empty fields in these IMSI columns.

CSP Usage Reports show both the Primary IMSI and the Active IMSI at the time the Usage occurred.

  • Data Usage Report for CSP

  • SMS Usage Report for CSP

  • Voice Usage Report for CSP

Multi-IMSI details in the Enterprise Portal

A Portal ACL determines whether extended IMSI details are visible to a User in the Enterprise Portal.

For each SIM Card, the EP SIM Grid displays the Primary IMSI as the main identifier. For Multi-IMSI SIMs, Users with the appropriate Access Rights can see all the assigned IMSIs in the SIM Details section.

Note that the only assigned IMSI is displayed for single IMSI SIMs.

Users with the appropriate Access Rights can see both, the Primary IMSI and the Active IMSI in the EDRs per SIM Card section. EDRs, for the same SIM, are displayed with the same Primary IMSI, but the Active IMSI is shown based on the loaded CDR.
