Feature overview
Goals
The aim of the CSP Defined Resource Types feature is to allow the CSP to create and manage Device Types, Company Types, Address Types, Application Types, and Person Types that allow for a more detailed description of their Accounts.
Functionality of the feature
Device Types
Device Types are labels that can be applied to an Account as a description of the physical devices in which the Account’s subscriptions will be used. Device Types are defined and managed by the CSP.
Company Types
Company Types are labels that can be applied at Company creation to define the type of entity the Company is. Company Types are defined and managed by the CSP.
Application Types
Application Types are labels that can be applied to an Account as a description of the manner in which the Account and its subscriptions will be used. Application Types are defined and managed by the CSP.
Person Types (Roles)
Person Types define roles that a User serves for an Account. Person Types are available to be defined for both Customer and Team Contacts of the Accounts. The difference between Customer and Team Contacts is described in the following table:
Customer Contact | Customer Contacts are Users that are created for a Customer Account of the Service Provider. These Users only operate within the Enterprise Portal. |
---|---|
Team Contact | Team Contact are CSP Users that have access to and carry out necessary operations in the Resource Manager. |
It is possible to define Person Types created in the CMP as CSP Roles in which case the roles can only be applied to Team Contacts. CMP also supports the creation of unique roles, that can only be used once within an Account.
